This is a composite electric motor.

Roughly 50% of the tolerance rings shipped to the NAFTA Region go into electric motors. Our current customers include Siemens Automotive, GE, Emerson Electric, Fasco and Johnson Electric. The most common application is to mount a bearing in a stamped, molded or diecast housing. Aside from eliminating the need for expensive secondary operations, the tolerance ring can retain the bearing OD across a thermal range, can act as an anti-rotational device, and can dampen vibration to extend brush life. Other applications involve mounting fans and tachometers on shafts and holding phenolic brush holders in drilled holes.
