USA Tolerance Rings provide an economical solution to managing torque in an application. The tolerance ring is a deceptively simple product that contains a series of wave forms that apply a spring tension between mating components such as a gear and a shaft. The tolerance ring can allow slippage during torque overload conditions preventing mechanism damage. Once the overload is relieved the tolerance allows the mechanism to function as if nothing has happened. The chart below shows a comparison of the tolerance ring to it’s better known competitors in torque overload conditions.
